Grandma’s night walk

Metaichmio, 2020

At Brussels, where Europe’s heart beats, that’s where grandma’s heart beats as well. At the end of her days, full of stories, feelings and a better understanding of the world, grandma slides contentedly out of life as if she were just taking a night walk. A magical walk that closes the long circle of a fulfilled life.

A lyrical, sensitive look on the theme of loss, seen as the natural, melancholic end of a long road.

Published posthumously in 2020, this is Alki Zei’s last work. A story written with such mastery and maturity, that despite its theme it leaves us not with sorrow, but with a warm, sweet melancholy instead.
